Welcome to Family Mediation Online

Family Mediation Online is a Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) Service designed to support:

  • Families who are separating and need help to resolve issues  around arrangements for their children.
  • For couples who are separating and need help to resolve issues around the division of their property.

From July 1 2008, changes have occurred in the Family Law system. Due to these changes families in dispute who want to apply to a court for a parenting order must first attend Family Dispute Resolution with a registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner to obtain a 60I Certificate. There are some exceptions to this rule, for example cases involving child abuse and family violence.

The issues discussed in Family Dispute Resolution can include:

  • Problems that have arisen during or after separation and the effect these problems have had on your children
  • How your child’s best interests can be served within the new structure of their family
  • Parenting Plans
  • Property and finances

Not everyone wishes to settle their dispute in court and Family Dispute Resolution offers a cost effective alternative to the litigation process.

Family Mediation Online allows you to have the necessary structured discussion about the needs of your children and the division of your property online at a location that suits you.

Family Mediation Online operates between the hours of 9.00 am and 9.00 pm, Monday through to Friday, allowing you to participate in Family Dispute Resolution at a time that suits you.

The fee for Family Dispute Resolution is $150.00 + GST per party and includes: an intake procedure and 2 hours of live online Family Dispute Resolution facilitated by a registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP); a Parenting Plan; and a 60I Certificate. Under the Family Law Act 1975, the Family  Dispute Resolution Practitioner will issue you with a 60I Certificate in relation to parenting matters. Parties applying to the court for property orders do not currently require a certificate.

Family Dispute Resolution offers a cost effective alternate for disputes involving parenting matters, property and finances.
